3 Ways to Make Small Text Bigger on Android

If you keep squinting at your phone, there are three ways to make text easier to read on Android. They work just as well when you’re setting up a phone for a parent.

Menu names vary a little by manufacturer (Samsung, Pixel, etc.) and Android version. The quickest way to find them is the search bar at the top of Settings.

1. Increase font size and display size

This is the go-to option if you want everything on screen to be bigger, all the time.

• Settings → Display → Font size and style (Samsung) or Settings → Display → Display size and text (Pixel)
• Font size makes only the text bigger. Display size also enlarges buttons and icons.
• Raising both by one step usually looks better than maxing out just one.

The downside: some apps may cut off text, and less content fits on each screen.

2. Zoom in only when you need to (Magnification)

• Settings → Accessibility → Magnification (Pixel) or Settings → Accessibility → Visibility enhancements → Magnification (Samsung)
• With the shortcut on, triple-tap the screen or press the accessibility button to zoom.
• Pinch with two fingers to change the zoom level, and drag to move around.

3. Use a magnifier app
